RAD Estate Buyers

Jewelry Buying, Up-cycled Jewelry, Repairs

RAD Estate Buyers is like two stores in one. There’s the estate buying part run by owner Ryean Rad and there’s in-house jeweler, David, who designs jewelry, crafts new jewelry from old pieces, and takes care of all repairs.

With gold at record highs, those interested in making money by selling baubles languishing in jewelry boxes can bring them to Ryean and he’ll tell you what they’re worth and pay on the spot. Ryean is also happy to give estimates for other items like china, statues, lamps, and toys.

David, a professional jeweler, specializes in bringing new life to old pieces of jewelry. He works with customers, salvaging gems and other elements from existing jewelry, and uses them to craft new pieces. The shop is open 11-4 Tuesday-Saturday, but will be open on Sunday 11-3 during the Newton Open Studios weekend. (And while David isn't formerly on the Newton Open Studio's map, he'll be at his jewelry bench during Newton Open Studios!)

Steve's Antiques

Greater Boston’s Antique Powerhouse

Physically the largest antique store in the Echo Bridge Mall, Steve’s Antiques is a greater Boston antique powerhouse, attracting dealers and shoppers throughout New England. Owner Steve Lubar buys and sells a little bit of everything—antique fine sterling from around the world, Asian antiques, jade, porcelain, European antiques, coins, jewelry, gold, silver and platinum—you name it, Steve has it. His business is decidely old school (don’t even bother looking for a website or Instagram account), but his customers don’t mind. They come in looking for estimates on items to sell, or browse through the treasures that line the walls, are displayed in cases, or piled high. If you’re spring cleaning or downsizing, bring your treasures to Steve, and he’ll give you an estimate of their value and an offer. If you’re hunting for that perfect piece to add interest to a bookcase, fill out a set of silverware, or expand a collection, save time and make Steve’s Antiques your first stop. He’s open 12-4 Mon-Sat, but during the Newton Open Studios weekend will be open both Saturday and Sunday.
