Cold process soaps are created from local ingredients when possible, including lavender and other botanicals grown in the gardens of this Newton business. Container candles are hand-poured from 100% American soy wax and the pillar candles are a blend of soy and beeswax. Wicks are cotton and burn clean for hours and hours. &Soaps is an environmentally-friendly company that takes sustainability seriously--steering clear of plastics and petroleum by-products.

Handwoven Shawls & Scarves

For those drawn to hand-woven goods, Newton is home to one of the contemporary masters of the art, Hetty Friedman. While you may have seen her hand-woven shawls and scarves in boutiques, museum shops, and local art events, Hetty also sells her pieces from her online shop, and, by appointment, out of her home studio in Newton Centre. Each piece is its own work of art—some with hand-dyed fibers and specialty yarns providing added interest and texture. Working with primarily bamboo and rayon, Hetty’s scarves and shawls are buttery soft and a pleasure to wear.
