Artisanal Holiday Chocolates

Newton resident Beth Kirsch trained in France as a Master Chocolatier. Her award-winning chocolates are made in small batches with the highest quality French chocolate and fresh ingredients. For Thanksgiving, she has her always popular milk or dark chocolate hand-painted turkeys ($3)—perfect and fun additions to place settings. Assorted boxes of chocolate bonbons ($16-$55) are standouts at the dessert table and thoughtful hostess gifts. She also has off-the-charts Chocolate-Dipped Toffee, chocolate bars, bark, French hot chocolate mix, and more. Stop by Beth's table at the market for a taste of rich hot chocolate, available for purchase in gift tins and kraft bags. Chocolates will be available for purchase at the market but, if possible, pre-order by Nov 18 for the best selection, with pick up either in Newton Highlands or at Newton’s Thanksgiving Market. Bettina's Bakery

Thanksgiving Pies + Cookies

The centerpieces of any Thanksgiving dessert spread are pies—and Bettina’s Bakery in Newton Upper Falls has some of the best scratch-made Thanksgiving pies in the city. Owned and operated by two professional pastry chefs, this sweet little eatery brings together German, Latino, and American cuisine, serving up baked goods with a creative flair. On the Thanksgiving Pie menu are Apple Crumb, Blueberry Crumb, and Pumpkin Pie, which can either be picked up at the Thanksgiving market or at their Elliot Street Bakery. Bettina’s also has turkey and pumpkin-shaped sugar cookie platters available for the holiday, which double as delicious hostess gifts. It’s best to pre-order pies, but Bettina’s will also have some for sale at the market. Cookie Platters will only be available at the Thanksgiving market. Empanadas for Easy Appetizers & Meals

Since popping up at the Saturday Farmers’ Market, Newton resident and Chiqui’s Kitchen owner, Krysia Villón, has upped the city’s empanada game—big time. Chiqui’s has Peruvian empanadas packed with flavor and enveloped with a dough that is both sweet and savory. They’ll have frozen empanadas in two sizes— minis in packs of 25, which are easy Thanksgiving appetizers, and 3-packs of regular sized empanadas for quick meals on busy days. Mini empanada flavors include: Beef, Chicken, and Vegetarian Sweet Potato. Regular sized will also have Spinach & Cheese as an option. If you're looking to kick it up a notch, Chiqui's also offers 2 different styles of dipping sauces. While you can purchase the empanadas at the Thanksgiving Market, you may want to pre-order just to make sure you get exactly what you want. And since the empanadas are frozen, they’re great to stow away in the freezer for easy meals or kids' lunches all winter long!

Pre-order floral centerpieces from Newton Centre's Derby Farm Flowers and you can pick them up at the Thanksgiving Farmer's Market--checking one more thing off of your to-do list. Derby Farm's so-pretty-they’ve-been-featured-in-Vogue floral arrangements elevate a holiday table top, entry way, and are much appreciated hostess gifts. Arrangements can also be ordered and picked up at their Newton Centre shop which is stocked with curated décor for dressing up table tops, inspired-by-nature home accents, and hostess gifts. 1280 Centre Street (in the brick building at the corner of Centre and Union Streets.)

Who wants to stuff themselves over the days leading up to Thanksgiving? And for those of us preparing Thanksgiving Dinner, the last thing we want to do is make dinner on Tuesday or Wednesday night. Enter Yoko Bryden from Hungry Ninja. After launching her Vegan sushi salad bowls at last year’s Newto Farmers’ Markets, she now has hundreds of regular customers lining up for her tasty bowls before they sell out. Yoko will be at the Thanksgiving Market with healthy and nourishing prepared meals ready to enjoy on Tuesday or Wednesday night. Choose from her Vegan Sushi Salad Bowls or Futomaki. Just place orders online no later than 12 PM on Monday, November 24 and pick them up at the Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday.

To make sure we head home with exactly what we want, they recommend pre-ordering their sourdough batards ($9), legendary vegan English muffins ($7 for a 4-pack), and over-sized flaky milk bread cinnamon rolls finished with cream cheese icing ($5), for easy pick up at the market.

Well, sure, we could spend our time in the run-up to Thanksgiving preparing side dishes or we can just hand it off to Newton’s newest restaurant with a full catering menu, Scafidi Brothers. With a long catering history, owners and brothers Andy and Ted Scafidi have lots of sides for your feast, with easy pick up at the Thanksgiving Market. Choose from: Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Traditional or Sausage Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce, Balsamic Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots, Sweet Potato Casserole, Green Bean Casserole, Mac & Cheese, and Gravy. Order sides for pick up at the market. (There will be very limited quantities for sale at the Market.) In addition to running her own personal chef business where she cooks up fine, creative cuisine for private and corporate clients, Fernanda has her own hot sauce called “Tapi Papi.” According to the Chopped champion it’s the perfect blend of fiery heat and sweet honey. Made in small batches with lots of Fresno chilis and a dash of Chilean merken, Tapi Papi has the right amount of kick to go with everything. Grab a bottle at the market, meet Fernanda, and get ready to spice up your Thanksgiving table. You can pre-order bottles for easy pick up at the market, too.
