AUGUST 14TH KIDS & FAMILY POP-UP

Newton Centre’s Bakey, co-owned by Danish-Israeli celebrity baker Uri Scheft—is known for its legendary sweet babkas (the chocolate babka is other-wordly), savory pastries, and breads. Rounding out Bakey’s menu are sandwiches made on their soft challah bagels and fresh salads. Named one of The Globe’s top Boston-area bakeries, Bakey is delivering lunch to the Allen Center on August 14th. (Yay!) Ordering is open now through Tuesday, August 12th. Lunch orders will be delivered to the Allen Center at noon on the 14th.

Kidcasso is popping up on the Allen Center patio with a fun, summery craft activity so kids can explore their creative sides. Owner-art teacher Laura-Marie Small will have art and play kits for purchase, perfect for entertaining kiddos during the last couple of weeks of summer. She’ll also have kits for use with creative projects on her popular Clubcasso YouTube Channel, where kids learn about their communities and are guided through thoughtful, hands-on art activities, reinforcing what they’ve learned. Located in West Newton, Kidcasso is an art space where kids explore their boundless creativity, providing them with the space, tools, encouragement and guidance to discover and bring out their inner artists. It holds camps, classes, and drop-in events for kids of all ages—from 6 months-14 years old.

With a background in running camps and entertaining our kids during vacations and after school, West Suburban YMCA staff know how to get kids moving and have fun.  They’ll have an obstacle course and lawn games set up for active play.

Dr. “B” (Beheshti) gets kids excited about taking care of their teeth! Children learn the importance of brushing by painting teeth sparkly white with toothbrushes. And they learn why they should floss while they work to remove playdough from legos with floss… Her child-friendly practice, Bee Happy Pediatric Dentistry in Newtonville (near Whole Foods), blends state-of-the-art technology with personable care.

At 12:30 on the patio young cellists from the Suzuki Music School entertain us and show off their skills with a half hour concert.
