Some small businesses have such an impact on the city’s retail landscape that it’s hard to remember what we did without them. The Cork & Board in Newton Centre is one of them.

Since opening nearly three years ago, The Cork & Board has become a destination for sampling specialty local foods, wines from around the world, and craft beer before buying them. Their busy Friday and Saturday tastings are testimonials that their approach works.

This Friday evening, June 13th from 5-7 the tasting includes local Indian food products that Cork & Board carries. Then on Saturday from 12-2 PM it’s a sip and “slurp” when oysters are shucked at the shop and paired with complementary wines. Three different types of oysters are on the menu and they’re $1 if paid for by 8PM TONIGHT or $2 apiece if purchased on Saturday.
